The government has and will always try to control what people do, even on the intarweb. Yet they always fail because there's always a way to get around it.
They tried to stop piratebay and it's still up and running. If you think of it, they should've been able to take it down but they can't.

You realize if you connect to any website owned by a US company, it would affect you too? Just because you don't live in the US, doesn't mean it wouldn't affect you.
