    Patch 2.039 (click for changelog) has (finally) been released.

    Speedhack checks are very close now; it should no longer be disconnecting players illegitimately, but it may still have one much less severe issue that's causing players to (very occasionally) still be warped back.
    Once that's fixed, we should be able to consider that one working (though it's in a pretty good state right now).

    We trialled 3D distance checks (which will resolve a bunch of different types of abuse) briefly, which generally worked as well as expected (i.e. not all that well); we need to ensure NPCs are set to the same height level as players, as right now they're a little off. With 2D checks this issue went unnoticed (as the client handles placing them at the next lowest point anyway), but we really do need to be using 3D distance checks -- so fixing that's one of our next priorities. For now, it's been reverted back to using 2D distance checks so anything NPC-related works again.

    Very few remaining server bugs at this stage. The issues remaining are mostly time consuming (and a couple quite serious), so we're just trying to knock off the fast/trivial ones first, before we get stuck into handling the more time consuming issues.

    No. Read what he wrote. He is changing the original code bit by bit. All other private server of this version outthere are poor modified copy of mgame. Why do you think every cheat is working there not to mention some other bugs they can't get rid off. I can guarantee you for a fact nobody else is doing what two is doing atm with his project.

    Server updates for 1/1/2015 have been posted to the forums.
    Also, patch 2.040 was released this morning.

    Benefit of using newer files is there's more features at our disposal that we can make use of; take proper monument capturing support, for example.
    It's not like there's anything you can do in older files that you can't in newer files.

    Modernization of Knight Online is killed the game. This is why USKO dead. We're all missing old times of usko :'( But looks like nobody cares about it.

    As I replied to FullMetalJacket, it doesn't matter which files are used; what matters is what's done with them.

    They changed skill behaviour? We can revert it, or otherwise implement our own.
    They added events? We don't have to use them, or we can improve upon them (or for that matter, add our own).
    They added items? Again, we don't have to use them, or we can tweak their drop rates/upgrade rates/stats.
    They changed the UI? Again, we don't have to use it. I personally love the new UI, to me it feels a lot sleeker and less kludgy (though initially I wasn't a huge fan). If there's enough support for doing so, we can implement options to allow them to be switched.

    What I'd suggest is taking a look at the feedback & suggestions section of our forums. Your concerns may be addressed by Kallop's polls, but if not, you can always create your own thread.

    Obviously, we want to cater to as many people as possible, so we'd really appreciate it if you could provide more specific feedback on what it is you're actually against. It'd help us immensely!

    We aren't, however, going to to limit ourselves by using older files because there really is absolutely no reason to do that; newer files means newer features we can make use of (not even necessarily how they're implemented officially!), which is always a good thing. I mean there's stuff like monument capturing, and then there's a better variety of skill behaviours/effects (e.g. blinding, the various effects from curses, etc), there's less obvious things like better NPC neutrality, drawbridge support, etc... there's just so much stuff that we can make use of now in some fashion (even if it's a skill effect abused for an event!), it's insane.

    The only thing using an older client would accomplish is us having to eventually try hacking in support for newer features which the older client does not support; that's generally kludgy and quite awful -- case in point: the various SOACS servers with hacky 'counting quests' [eww!], NPC transformations [urgh, those animations!], etc. Obviously that's 1.298, and ROFD (generally) supports those specific examples, but hopefully you get my point!

    So as I said -- I'd strongly suggest providing feedback on what it is you're actually against. Just the fact it's using the 2.0xx client doesn't really make much of a difference.

    1098 was best..
    I was waited so bad for NoDramaKO, old myko style server 1098
    Most people who waited with me for that epic pk and feel old times dont even care about this 20xx project

    From my perspective, people that still release 1298 or similar basic versions do it because that's the best they can get.

    What's so great about those old versions? can't think of many reasons other than the 'old times' feel that they have, and even now that is growing thin after everyone and their mothers released a 'MYKO' server over the last couple years. When comparing the amounts of more recent PSKO versions to older ones it's clear where the untapped potential lies.

    Current KO is fun outside of some really lame strats that can be easily remedied.

    Shitty graphics, not many wow like add ons, simplicity and rock'n'roll in cz exp and pk wise. But maybe i'm just that old that I like that shit :P
    You're probably right about potential of the 20xx files, simply because old KOers will die out aventually, or the newer generations coming from new usko versions and so forth will outnumber us if they didn't already xD
