In your minecraft launcher press "Edit Profile", Use Version: release 1.6.4. Minecraft newly released a new game version (1.7.2) but the server has not yet been updated to that version.

Bad login can mean either you dont have premium account or they didnt put you on white-list, people who are interested how that game was done its pretty simple answer u need to take alot of time designing maps but there is no coding except the items had to be coded in a mod.
