Webserver's down (seems it ended up being way too much for the box to cope with), on it.

Server is otherwise still up... count still rising. Amazed. Very amazed.

Anyway, webserver issue's (more or less) under control. So far the peak's 989 players in-game, crazy! Increased the panel's cache time by double so site statistics will take a little while longer to update than I'd like, but it seems to be helping ease the load.

Hey guys,

The issue may take a while to fix. Although we were doing exceptionally well for a while (peaking at about 989 players in-game), it appears somebody is exploiting a somewhat "infamous" server bug that still exists solely because of the way the server was designed.

As it prevented the game server from accepting any new connections (by "losing" reusable sockets), I sought to determine what exactly "lost" the sockets so that I could determine a means of preventing it from happening in the first place, meaning - to some extent - problem solved.

However, it should be noted that I've been awake for at least 36 hours and counting, and right now I'm finding it's just more of a hindrance to continue as is.

So... the server will take a break of sorts, as I firstly get some rest, and secondly - track down this issue.

Apologies about the awful timing, but once the bug's fixed I'll be releasing the patch for other server owners so they don't need to go through this either (although there's ways for somewhat "working around" the issue, i.e. by limiting connections, it's still fully exploitable - you only need one connection to "lose" 1 of only 1500 available sockets).

PS: I turned off the shoutbox because it was getting repetitive and nobody was reading. Hopefully this forces everyone to see what's going on, so they don't need to keep asking!
