I haven't really looked at their current implementation of AI yet, as the current stage is for 1.298 (although once the base is done there's really no drama with updating the packet structures & implementing any additional features/functionality).

Currently it may or may not; it depends if the mob feels threatened, and it may not always have the chance to call for help before you kill it. They shouldn't all attack you at once, however. Not unless you're especially unlucky. :P
