Never tired to make a server nor messed around with any database etc. I know c++ java and php never used sql but im sure wont be super hard. I saw different versions people posted such as 1298 1299 and higher but not really sure which is the best to start with or which one may be more stable. if someone could give me some advice would greatly be appreciated.

If you know c++ I suggest you take the leaked rofd files and patch them up well. People really like rofd files

for the start he need to start with 1299 version, then after he will learn how things worked, he can move farther.
