Do higher Lvl Items hit harder?

Hey everyone, i heard a rumor that even if a weapon such as a cleaver +9 has 1 more ap, and 10 more elemental it will not hit as hard as a shard+8 which has 1 less ap and 10 less elemental then the cleaver. Is this true that weapons that are high class or unique hit harder than middle class items? If anyone has done any tests its much appreciated.

Weapons that are already high class even at +1 instead of weapons that go high class at +7 only.

they dont hit harder i dont believe :S tho cleaver (middle class at +1) will fail more than a shard (high class at +1)

The theory is that its not how hard they hit but how often they fail. Some say shards fail less than cleavers, giving them the edge on total damage given over time. Others say it doesn't.

actually the real rumor says that shard and cleaver will hit almost same, but that cleaver, being originally a mid class item will fail more criticals...but it is just a rumor so don't worry about it.

so people have at least heard of this before, interesting. SO my next question is, if im on a 20gb budget (ares) what 2 daggers should i get? Shard +8 and crappy cleaver +8 or cleaver +9 and like md+8, or cleaver +9 and dv +7

I think you can easily get the cleaver +9 and MD+8 atm...Dark Vane is not convenient depending on your lvl...if you are 75+ is good to have, but not before.

I havnt seen any proof that shard+8 fails critical more, I think its just a rumour made by people who had shard8's when the +5 cleaver quest came out, and there was massive influx in cleavers+9. It made shard+8s redundant, except for those who favour aesthetics over ability.

to answer to your topic.... NOPE...it all depends on the total AP you have...the more AP = the more harder

unless its a unique with very high elemental dmg for example a hellbreaker+7 having almost same damage with a raptor+8/80

if you are comparing shards, cleavers and mds at the same + , higher AP is what you would need for higher damage...

Yes. In fact it is better than a MD +9. (Has 10 more element). Grade means nothing.

i did this test on my warrior. i had a hb 7 that is unique and much more ele and raptor 8 18 more ap and 60 less ele. the raptor out hit the hb on average of about ~150 damage. So i dont think high/uniques hit better
