    Default Elemental vs AP

Pretty sure this has been asked before but didnt see it in the first couple pages

I know AP matters more when it comes to damage

but what use is having more Elemental? does it increase continuous damage? does it increase stun/slow chances? there has to be something.....

It's a mix for both I would say, assuming you're gonna go what I call a melee mage ' Staffin alot' Well in term of dmg, the AP of the staff has to be higher.

If you wanna go 'Turkiyim Nova Towner' ( thats how I call them, no offense to anyone ) well I would assume elemental comes in, not fully but it does. I do prefer having lycaon +8 with 255mp than a hellblood and 246mp when I do nova towns, get my why... but I always found it better

highest ap on staff deffo helps more in dmg using skill like blade attack while an higher elem. dmg increases your dot dmg as well as aoe spell's dmg.
A good staff would be that one with both high ap and an high element.
Cursed staff got low elemt but its curse and its high ap compensate the loss of elemental. Without talking about wearing bifrost rings that reduce that "gap", pumping your dmg even if u use a damned noob candy staff (doh..i start to love the candy+6 ones and still pwning in fashion mode^^ )

Wood+10 is a dirty staff pretty good for papers under 70 that can't afford a lycaon +9. 82 ap 80 flame dmg do their job
i guess u got the idea...

    P.S: happy casting

on my ardream, i tested a elixir +10
    155 AP, 80 elemental

    with lightning and imir +3s

    statted 160 INT
    144 MP
i staff attacked for about 430+30

    ...

    i have a chaotic +7rb
    126 AP 67 elemental
    imir +3s

    116 int
    187 mp
i staff attack for about 410+30

    ...

thats 29 ap more and 13 elemental more on the elixir 10
    and a 33 MP less....

i was surprised to see i was only staffing for 20 more with an elixir +10

its actually 43 mp less ... and yea makes the elixer 10 kinda look useless compared to the chaotic 7 rev. plus i bet you can get chaotic9 for price of the elixer10 and you willl prob do more dmg.

well woe +7 vs scorching +7, woe got more elemental less ap, but everything you do whit woe, nova, blade, it hits less than a scorching +7. I did all tests i could and didnt see anything good in woe, tho its has more elemental than scorching.

Its like 25 days since this topic made....

Anyway, at least in DCZ, each time I got new shio, and had the same staff, each elemental added me 1 dmg, so lets say I moved from +1 shio to +2, +15 elemental, got +15 more dmg with skills

Why useless? Shio +2 give ya 60 elemental, so dual = 120, + staff elemental it can go to almost 200 dmg bonus just from elemental

i guess i did want to say that, when need pick same amount of elemental over same amount of staff ap, then staff ap would better.

    So from what I've gathered....

AP has a much greater impact than elemental. Elemental is just a slight bonus. I've noticed there's slight differences between elemental rings+0 and +1, so it is better to go to +2 or the maximum for the extra HP/AC bonuses to make a noticable difference.

Ely's ftw or Chaotic for the DD. Anything else sux0rz.

sorry old topic but, people who say elemntal improves spell dmg and ap improves more blading dmg/staffing dmg, go try 2 different staffs and see that AP improves MOSTLY both, and Elemental has little effect on both, Novas whit woe+7 hit much lower than novas whit sorching +7, so do any ranged spell.
