From my experience the succesrate is based on the pure HP of the other user and nothing else.
Resists, staff etc. don't matter.

Also around 8k hp or higher seems to be 100% 80ice.
80icing someone with 2 or 3k hp is rather unreliable.

Every priest or warrior in ares cz seemed to be a guaranteed 80ice as long as they weren't around 2/3rd hp or less

Staff or shield doesn't matter for cubes. It's purely on the opponent's current HP.

cube is just a level 80 ice skill. it just makes the opponent not be able to do anything for 15 seconds (or something like that).

cube mages aren't necessarily tank mages, but a good number of them are.

im being cube mage with dmg, if you going tank id say do rols, i have shios3 doing more dmg then when i was lr with imirs3.

usually most ice mages are shield seeing there damage even as ice make no diff , atleast in C-West mage wise. Always good to have spare shios even olds with a wood+9 wen priest is cubed to try to slow the one who the party is trying to gank seeing the priest will be out for a while
