Blink has like what? 700 range? he couldnt get darkterror even with dagger. its just how it is.

Blink has 1200 range nowdays AFAIK, besides viper has like 100%? slow at lvl 6.

And when it comes lanecontrol in a 1on1 lane viper is a top pick. Melee heroes are out of the question, maybe nerubian assasin or abaddon, but they would still be terribly underfarmed. Ranged heros? Most will be harassed to hell, maybe SF if he is imba with razes (still far too fragile). Potm and qop with a lot of runes can hold pretty good. Enchantress is a good pick but once heal is on cd its GG if viper gets to attack, but has too low dmg and animation is worse. Tinker pretty much fucked with the laser mana cost increase, warlock is good but can die easily lvl 5 or 6 if viper gets it first.

I have to agree Viper is extremely annoying when solo laning. Has good fast attack animation which makes him an excellent farmer/denier. Slow attacks at early lvls makes him a great hunter. It's good overall, and a pain in the ass for melee heros at the beggining, but all heros have their pros and cons, im just saying do not overrate it (:
