Why do people refuse to play Xerath?

It wasn't until the recent tournament that I see Xerath again in normals / ranked.

I've literally played against less than 10 xeraths in my years of LoL, hell I wouldn't even know how to counter him if I saw him.

But the question remains, he's like brand that only brings damage but damn, he SURE does bring damage in a fight.

Pros don't play him, therefore wannabes dont play him. End of story.

He recently got played and now I've actually seen him in about 8 games the past day and a half. (I have only played about 20-25 games)


But yeah he's pretty GG.

Xerath is underestimated by alot of people but he can be in a teamfight while in the jungle because of his W. There's a lot of champions that are underlooked and are very OP if they were to be played regularly

He's boring, feels unrewarding and did I mention he's boring?

Months ago I considered him ridiculous in laning and was awaiting for nerfs, but then other champs were released and he started to lose strength slowly...

Do the math for his level 6 (or 7) combo. It was stupid: over 700 damage + ignite. E+R for a guaranteed stun. and then land the rest of your ult + 2 Q's = death, considering how your lane opponent should already be worn down because all of the poking you've done.

But well, now flask first item purchases, mobile picks, AD caster mid and S3 AP nerfs have toned him down. And that's a good thing. I absolutely despised facing him as TF.

Also, Syndra exists, she's basically xerath 2.0. The only thing that Xerath has for him is his poking and range, because mana costs, base damage and AP ratios (dat q) aren't that high.

Well there's nothing more rewarding than getting a quadra from wraith camp in a "4v5" teamfight where the team didn't know.

Also can't agree on ya on the syndra thing, syndra has good burst but I have yet to see a good one in adapt to a team fight.

Know any streamers that do syndra well? I'd like to see her played decently.

Because xerath can easily be counter picked and there are better options for what he does. Same exact 2 reasons why 70% of champs aren't picked.
