For my DLW warrior, I have both a +5 Raptor (161 AP) and a +7 Glave (165 AP). It changes my warriros AP from 935 with Raptor to 957 with Glave, even though they are only 4 AP apart.

Every little bit of AP helps I think, and if you already have a bunch of other good items like armor and unique jewelry and stuff, well... ya gotta spend your money on something I guess.
