Gem drop rate

I don't know if there's already a topic about this but someone I know said that gem (crudes, opals, crystals) won't drop anymore because of the x-mas event. I think it is true because I see spell of thorns for like 250M because the gems are so expensive (5M, and for spell of thorn u need 90 gems). Can anyone confirm this is true?

First of all spell of thorn is a way cheaper about 30-50 m i mean i am talking about ares and i think its similar everywhere. And about gems its low drop rate u can try killing skeletons i got few drops 5-6 days ago.

He is talking about Akara, obviously stuff like Thorn cost different than Ares.
The drop rate of gems has massively decreased since the whole New Moradon patch.
