Its called propagation delay. We use internet URLs not IPs. And the internet caches the name to IP in DNS. The important authoritive DNS server the reference point changes. But you have to wait until your DNS is aware of it.

So it depends on your internet providers DNS cache how long you wait. For some 5 minutes for some 24 hrs.
