This has been something happening for an extremely long time, if I'm not mistaken you could do this since the game was released.
i think i read about this "exploit" awhile back ago....
basically a mage dot damages you in arena, goes quickly into pk zone (ardream, cz) and while the dot damage kills you slowly, he gets your money since he's in pk zone... at least that was the bug i read. not sure its the same though
asking for proofs and flaming stops right here -.-.

and we were trying to find out what really happened or how it actually happened. it wasn't until mysquirtpie posted that we realized it's THAT old bug.

This game is really screwed up! There's absolutely no reassurance. You can invest hundreds of dollars and you can get hacked anytime. These bugs you are talking about are another thing... Ppl can now screw you up so bad... it's all messed up!
they use some kind of hacks to make the game (somehow) think they're in cz, means when they tp you to arena and kill you its like you're in cz wich means you lose 50% of your money.
Its a old trick of wich i still don't know how they do it

Sounds more like it's just because they're dying in Moradon; there's probably nothing preventing coin gain/loss there on DOT deaths.
The game's a complete mess; they've implemented death handling code, manually, for each and every place they can die. Not all of them are consistent, so it really doesn't surprise me that they'd screw up.
TRWTF is that the DOT isn't being reset on zone change. The old source & all various official server files I have all handle this correctly, which... means somewhere along the line they've broken this feature that's worked from the very start. :/

There's a lot of things that shouldn't be possible, that shouldn't ever happen. But mgame has a funny way of making bad things happen. A lot.
Heck, KO's main appeal came from a bug that allowed comboing as we know it.
