if u buy 3 old u compound them
if u buy 9 old ones to make a +2 u also should know the outcome off all 3 will be either old ore not old so u can still compound

i believe you can compound both types still but you cant mix and match say like 2 old and 1 regular. its got to be 3 old or 3 regular
