Putting aside the clueless people that choose a set of pathos gloves without reading (IE: an INT priest getting defense pathos gloves against priest), I have a question.
Why do mages use ATK pathos gloves? Literally every single mage team in Cypher has these. Why?
Most people tend to stack 2 identical ones for specializing against a certain class (total of 4%/20ac and 6% respectively), this is fine and dandy.Pathos gloves have 2 bonus paths:
1. Base attack increase (2% attack power)
1.1 Increased damage against a certain class of your choosing (by 3%)
2. Base defense increase (10 AC)
2.1 Decreased damage from a certain class of your choosing (by 3%)
Back to the original question, why would mages do this? Mages get nothing from the 4% bonus attack power. They choose attack against mages and that's a bonus 6% inflicted to them which makes sense in mage vs mage fights but it does NOTHING when fighting other classes. So, wouldn't defense against mages pathos gloves be better? You neutralize the mage attack pathos gloves that the other mage party will surely have, while you get 20 AC that will help you vs other classes.
I'm no mage specialist, but every mage team does this. Is there any hidden tech involved that I'm not aware of?
