Site down AGAIN

As everyone noticed, site went down again. Again for the same reason, excesive CPU usage. Downtime was longer cause hosting took a long while to give us a backup of the forum database. Tezz/Divano did all they could to speed things up.

Now, as u can see, we are using a default phpBB setup. No themes, no hacks, nothing, so we can figure out whats causing the CPU problems. I'll start adding hacks 1 by 1 til we get to the bottom of this.

Sorry for the inconvenience but this wasn't in our plans ...

PS: We have restricted some stuff so minimize CPU usage. Flood control is now 60 secs, same as search, etc. It sucks, I know, but thats better than being offline.

After I figure out what is causing the problems, I'll get it back to what it was before, but for now, is not good idea. Besides, why would u need to post that fast? :P

different topics in different sections type thing :P really busy times of forums u might be having 2-3 different discussions in multiple topics

but if its just til u figure out whats fucking up the servers then tahts fine :P as long as its not perm :wub:

when u buy a hosting , u get a very preticular CPU usage u can use on the hosting server .
the server is used to host alot of websites .
so the hosting company limits the CPU usage that allowed for a site .
when u have so many users logged on , so many posts per minute and not the biggest CPU usage allowed thats what happens .

woops woops we didnt expect this kind of usage and we were not leasing servers for our hosting company from a leasing company with dedicated servers....this is not the case....1st time this has ever happened to us while hosting a site for anyone.....we have as of today switched and will be using dedicated servers with no limit on space

so ko4life can now be on a dedicated server which will have no limit on cpu usage and it will not be a server sharded with 1500 other sites as it was before

p.s. holy crap you all use a lot of cpu usage....enough to crash a apache server with 1500 other sites on it :blink: :P
