    I'm just wondering this

I'm going to buy a 8800 gt in 2 days around but there are two kinds of 8800 gt

    8880gt 512mb nd
    8800gt 1024mb

so I want to know if there is a big difference between the one with 512mb and the one with 1024mb ?

    I'm guessing its 1024mb of ddr2 and the other is 512 ddr3?

Find the card on newegg/tiger so we can look at the benchmarks

    Get the 1024 card.

Specs are basically the same, and since theres minor benefits from ddr3 to ddr2, it would be better to take that card.

If your playing with resolution higher than 1600x1200(24" screen or higher) then go for the 1024 card, if your playing with less (22" screen or smaller) then go with the 512 card, you wont notice any diffrence at all at lower resolutions

    found this on another forum
una 8800 GT sigue siendo mas potente que una 9600GT pero no por mucho,[/b]
on english means "a 8800 gt is more powerful than a 9600 gt but not for much"
found this on a english forum h34r:
NV claimed that 9600GT have a new data comparison tech, performance under AA/AF will be good. But when we compare the card with 8800GT we can not notice the difference. We guess that’s may be another driver improvments.

    9600GT’s performance is 5%~23% less than 8800GT. 13.44% less averagely. Considering 9600GT is 180USD, 20% less than the 230USD 8800GT, it got a good price/performance ratio.[/b]
    other people says :
"between a nvidia 8800 gt 512 and 1024mb isn't a big difference, only a little difference if you gonna play on high resulutions like 1920x1200 and it gives like 5 fps more only"

    so I will buy a 8800 gt 512mb I think =X

If you want to know for real => google

If you want some decent info about the diffrence between a GT 8800 with 256/512/1024 mb
    you might wanne check this:

    __________________________________________________ _____________________________
    8800GT 1Gb vs 512mb vs 256mb Review
In our test, we want to show you which memory size is suitable for 8800GT. So in the test we have three
    8800GT. One is Leadtek PX8800GT 256MB, Inno Geforce 8800GT 512MB and GainWard 8800GT 1024MB.
Because GainWard 8800GT 1024MB is a factory Overclocked version, we flashed its BIOS, lower the
    frequency to 600/1800/1500MHz(Core/Memory/Shader).

    Source: http://en.expreview.com/?p=159[/b]
So my personal opinion would be:
Go for the 8800GT 512mb cause seeing you only have a resolution of 1280 x 1024 which means that
at allmost every test they did with there games (which ask a good graphic card and good performance)
the 512 is either higher/equal to the 1024mb (some realllyyy less but allmost nothing).

So 8800GT 512mb would be perfect for your pc
