It could be all kinds of things. Has he tried reinstalling? If that doesent work reinstall the latest version of directx and update your graphics card drivers.

hahha its called move that pop up to the bottom corner of your screen and keep playing thats wat i do when i get that or just exit out of the game and re start ko easy problem to fix
