Ok so it's time for me to build a new pc, I just need some feedback on what people think about my intended build and whether or not to change something out. Only the parts marked with a "**" are the ones I am still unsure about but any suggestions would be appriciated. The build I'm going for is something that I can use for some FPS gaming, KO and work related stuff and I am trying to keep the total price under $1500 USD.

**Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932**
CPU: Intel Core i7 920
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD4P
**CPU Cooler: COOLER MASTER V8**
RAM: OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
GFX Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB
DVD drive: LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe
Hard Drive: Western Digital 500GB 7200RPM <--I have a second one already that will be used for extra storage and not RAID
Power Supply: Thermaltake Black Widow 850W <--I already have this so this won't change
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Right now I keep second guessing myself on the case because i want a full size case for max air flow and one that will fit the V8 cooler or one of similar size as most for the 1366 socket are rather large. I don't plan to OC the CPU too much ( maybe to 2.9, if that) because I will be running an air cooled machine and before anyone asks no I do not like liquid cooled machines. Had a couple of bad experiences in the past "shivers" so I just want to avoid it for now.

The V8 will fit in the HAF 932 so theres nothing to worry about there.

Thats a mighty fine computer if you're looking for a high end machine, but if you don't plan to use all of that power then you could try out something cheaper.

My similar i7 build is too powerfull for me.

I built the beast on Mon. and right now everything is running great just gotta get past the breakin period and im home free. the only change I did was I got some Corsair Dominator RAM instead of the OCZ because of possible compatibility issues with the OCZ RAM. and the V8 fits with lots of room to spare .

The only change I would suggest to anyone wishing to build a similar comp make sure your power supply has enough 6-pin(or 8) PCI power connectors to run the 200 series or higher end ATI gfx cards. the thermaltake only had one but that's fine with me as I won't be going SLI....yet. EVGA is kind enough to give you a 6-pin convertor that changes a 4-pin peripherial into a 6-pin PCI connector. As for other brands, check the box or the manufacture's website before buying your card to ensure you got everthing you need and make sure that you have a large enough power supply to run everything.

Newegg.com - HP Pavilion Elite E9270F(AU917AA#ABA) Intel Core i7 860(2.80GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB ATI Radeon HD 4650 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - Desktop PCs
I bought this comp off of HP.com at a cheaper price than that on Newegg. it seems to have basically same specs (but an 2.8ghz i7 over the 2.66ghz i5) give or take than the one you suggested building. I run KO at 140fps in Moradon. It runs quiet and cool. Only downside is that HP hates putting decent powersupply's into their comps, but so far I havn't had any problems. (thank god vista is dead)

Hey was wondering if you guys could help me with a quick question. I have a dell xps gen 2 laptop(3 years old) I just went to best buy the other day and bought some updated RAM. The guy told me my laptop could hold 4GB of RAM. I get home and put the RAM sticks in and turns out he was wrong. My laptop has a max load of 2GB. My question is should I take the 2GB stick back and exchange it for x2 1GB sticks? Right now I have x1 2GB stick in one of the ports, the other is empty... would my laptop be faster to have a 1gb in both ports? or does it not make a difference? Thanks for any help.

ANY compters can run KO for 10 hrs per day no problem

Easiest way is one of two options

> Barebones PC (dunno ifr you can find a onitor that cheap, but if you ahve newish TV you can hook it up), sounds like your setting it u as a merch PC

> Buy an upgrade board

Had an question:

Currently I have an Geforce 260 GTX hanging in my pc, and I do have an Geforce 7600 GT laying somewere.

Would it be an option combining the 2 in my pc? That I also hang in the Geforce 7600 GT next to the Geforce 260 GTX :P Or is this not possible or would'nt it change much? OR is this an totaly stupid idea? XD

Thanks in advance!

You can put ur second video card as ''slave'' let him do all the 2D tasks, and let ur main video card do all the rest It works fine with my pc
