go start > run "cmd", once in cmd type "ipconfig"
This will state ips put the default gateway ip into http://<defaultgatewayip>
    e.g http://192.168.0.1

This will take you into your router admin control panel, at this point it might ask you for a username and pw. Common usernames and pws are "admin admin", "admin pass" etc.

Once into your admin control panel you will see something called port forwarding, depending on you router you might have to go into a few sub-sections first.

Should look like the above image. "Ext Port" Is the port you want opened eg 1500 to 2000. Tick TCP, and where it says "IP address" enter the ip address which is in the cmd prompt.

Then click apply, you can then test see if the port is open using http://www.hackerwatch.org/probe/

All that is assuming is the router has firewall. Otherwise it would not do anything.
