how can i install windows xp?

    ok

    so last week, i got a virus on my computer

    i cant seem to install things onto my computer via windows...

    so im trying to do a reinstall of windows altogether...
    (i just got a mini-laptop today in the mail and it has a copy of windows xp...the mini laptop a dell 1010 actually can run ko!...but its slow as fuuck)

    trying to boot to my cd-rom but for some reason, it doesnt and by passes it and just loads windows...

    ...

    any idea what i can do now?

    i tried looking for help via the web but cant find anything..

    I dont know much. But it sounds like your gonna have to wipe everything off your comp.

    nevermind, i figured out what was happening...

    i have 2 dvd drives and i was putting the cd into the wrong drive

    =D

    When booting up spam the DEL button, you have to make changes in the BIOS. The boot order is most likely set to HDD first then CDROM/DVD drive. Just change it to CDROM/DVD first, HDD second. Reboot and you should be all set.


    If it still doesn't work, get another copy of Windows. Appears that either your copy is damaged or not an actual boot CD.
