Can't log in because it's telling me that I need to update my version in order to sign in. Anyone else getting this? I've installed the "newest version of windows live messenger" automatically by pressing "Yes" and after the upgrade was completed, I rebooted my PC as told. Now I just can't log in and I don't wanna download older versions which will also tell me to update it.

I'm using windows xp home sp3.

Any suggestions on what to do? Need a solution by tonight please, thanks in advance.

I would love to, if only I could import all my msn contacts to something else such as AIM or whatever, any suggestions guys? I'll make a new email if necessary but right now, I need to get msn working so that I can save my contact list to import to something else, or simply get certain emails from the contact address book. Help please?

edit: gunna try to install msn 8.0 and see if it works..
edit2: nope, still asks me to update to the newest windows live
try to find a bypass or something....

I had a similar problem i looked around and found there was some kinda of msn bug with vista and sometimes strange bugs would happen with new msn. So i was told to delete any previous msn programs i had and restart pc then install the new msn and that worked for me.

Using something like Miranda / MirandaME, Trillian or something like that will get you around installing-problems as well. I experienced there has to be quite a couple of windows-services running to install live-messenger, maybe that`s the reason why update fails.

yay! I made it work Microsoft support <3 xD

All I had to do is to install Windows Installer 3.1 (or newer one) ... after that, installation went with no problems

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displayLang=en
    scroll down & download WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe

btw, the new version sucks badly.. :C

Still not working. What are other instant messaging programs which can add/chat with "@hotmail/live.com" emails? Other than yahoo..
