I think I found the .dll that spybot couldn't find. but ima let your solution give it a shot. if it doesnt work ima reboot in safemode and use hijackthis to get rid of it.

While letting trendmicro scan, I found something called Unlocker that allowed me to delete the file and "fix" the problem. But I still get the pop ups. Idk what else it could be. I've scanned with like 5 different programs. It's beyond comical or annoying, its EVIL!

what you have my friend is a trojan too well hidden for any anti virus to detect, and will keep downloading more malicious programs nonstop thus make you a zombie.
you best bet would be here.

Im working with few guys who are old spyware/virus experts. For avrage user they recommend nod32 with adaware+spybot, also they say a good firewall helps alot but i dont use coz it acuses alot of troubles for me. For bit more experienced user u combine previous with autoruns and HJT and u should do well. I use those and had a virus few weeks ago (as some saw in msn), didnt take a while to get it out.

Point is, only a good antivirus doesnt make u god. Just dont open random shit, visit porn sites and watch out where u dl stuff.

It's an old book trick... It's no virus just a spyware. Once you click "Yes" it probably takes you to some random Antivirus program which you have to pay for(that's the purpose of this spyware, to download its product). AVG doesn't pick it up cuz like I said it's no virus. Try Ad-Aware and Search&Destroy to remove it from your computer, for the "best" antivirus I recommend Kaspersky.[/b]

It's absolutely normal.
Just download a anti-spyware program for free and scan and delete what it found, then it should work .

I did delete it, and rescanned using avg and spybot, both found nothing. I got rid of the file the virus originated from. There was NO trace of it at all. But I still got the pop ups from the virus, telling me to update my anti-spyware software. The only solution that actually worked for me was to reformat.

Used both. Pretty much same result: Spyware and pop ups still there, enormous frustration and cursing ensued, software uninstalled, repeated this process with every other antivirus/spyware known to man, till I decided to reformat.
