problems installing my os

Built an older secondary computer, purchased a 100gb maxtor hd, installed it, but when I'm installing windows after the 1st reboot for some damn reason it keeps saying "press any key to boot from cd..... error loading operating system." first time I've had this problem while building a pc. I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this problem and no why its being caused. Any help will be appreciated..

Sometimes it doesn't write the MBR correctly. Try using "fixmbr" if it happens again, or install another OS first (like windows 98).
