shell.dll

whenever i turn on my computer i get a popup that says " cannot find SHELL.DLL"

this has been going on for over a year and i cant seem to fix it.

any insight?

I'm going to assume you're running Windows XP.

The error indicates that the system file "shell.dll" is missing or damaged. Try copying "shell.dll" from the 'WindowsSystem' folder to the 'WindowsSystem32' folder.
