Well im wondering if anyone has been to Afganistan in the last 1-2yrs because in about 30days ill be starting my training and i honesty have no clue what to expect over there. Me and a few buddies all volunteered, we just recently found out its some type of secret mission so they wont tell us anything into were actually in afghanistan which is kinda scary to me but anyway if anyone has some info just let me know thanks.
well august is the most bloodiest month in Afghanistan for us troops .... so ya go obama ! YES WECAN ! ! !
and yeah they obviously wouldn't tell you where your going ... you do realize if you knew and you told us on here it would be against the law
it all depeds on region, even though danish soldiers are in green zone (the safe area) the talibans keep attacking patrols.
red zone is more harsh..
u will see when u go there. training videos off kids blowing themselfs up and boobytraps and shit. a frend off my told me before he went what he saw and it wasnt nice.

im in army 92a Automated logistical specialist, its one of the most common Mos when i enlisted i had no clue about what Mos to chose so my recruiter basically picked for me lol
ill be shipping with the 117 field artillery for about 17months 1yr+5 months training
afghanistan, well, from what i hear about my buddies over there currently, they say that they are in the shit.
with these new ROE's (rules of engagement) we arent really able to do our jobs anymore. anything that involves civilian casualties says that we are to break contact and call higher to let them know and they will let us know from there. now let me tell you, the taliban knows our ROEs just as much as we do, and they will probably have guys walking around with children so you cant shoot at them when they shoot at you. they plant lots of IED's on the roads, just like their counterparts in iraq.
now, just because there are new ROE's, does not mean that alot of shit goes unsaid, i know alot of my buddies have killed civilians, purposely, because they just get so fed up with them being in the way and not being able to tell who is friendly and who is enemy. the whole "hearts and minds" bullshit doenst work in a place like afghanistan.
if your moving with artillery, pray that you are on a main camp, or on a main military base where the chances of attacks are very rare. when i went through SOI 2 years ago, our class was split in half, some of us went to 1/8, the other half went to 2/8, and i am in iraq, going home here in about 2 weeks, and our other battalion, 2/8, is still in afghanistan, and some of my buddies that were in my class wont be coming home.
but overall, if your in a convoy, you should be fine, IEDS suck yeah, but now, we got MRAPS, and alot of IED-resistant vehicles that make it very hard for the taliban to kill people now. just pray, that it doenst get any worse than it already is.
