Anyways, I do realize that alot of amazing metal guitarists aren't in here, but this is basically from my favorites, I'm not really adding the old legends like Randy Rhoads, Tony Iommi, Adrian Smith, Buckethead, Dimebag Darrel, Van Halen, Zakk Wylde, Dave Mustaine, Kirk Hammet, Steve Vai, Ywngie Malmsteen .. etc could go on forever. These are just modern metal guitarists. Anyways, I was just bored, made this poll, I dont care what you vote on to be honest, be it, technicality, originality, Speed, Solos, popularity, whatever, just curious.

Dimebag Darrel? Van Halen? Ywngie Malmsteen? Those last two are nothing but "Hey, I can do arpreggios at the speed of light!". Same with Herman Li, 'cept this guy fails in originality, not technique. Dream Theater's guitarist is another example of how much tech is too tech.

Terrance Hobbs is the guitarist from Suffocation. What this guy plays will make your fingers twitch, not because its damn fast, but because the riffs are very complex, oh, and he plays fast. Ishan from Emperor made some ingenious riffs, mainly inspired by neoclassical, with a Horror house touch. Jon Levasseur of Cryptopsy gets the cake for tech death metal and Bill Steer of Cryptopsy has to get a mention for pretty much making the basis of modern day Gore music.

Good points, I wouldn't say that petrucci is to much tech though, he still makes it sound amazing. Most the guys you mentioned I'm not to familiar with as I'm not a huge fan of Death Metal, I do like it, but not as much as metalcore, Or melodic Deathcore... Anyhow, just like I said, more or less the bands that I listen too, theres many great guitarists out there.

Just because Jimi Hendrix didn't play his solos at light speed doesn't mean he wasn't good. But that has nothing to do with this topic. I chose John Petrucci because out of the guitarists listed, he is the most skilled IMO.

Lol jimi hendrix sucks horribly? lol... You got to be kidding me. Doesnt matter bout the song, its about his guitar skills. Stupid metal guitarist rely on hard drums to make it sound better, and their main guitarist are usually never on vocals .
Anyways heres a real good guitarist.:
