A GENERAL DISCUSSION forum is for progressive, contributive discussion in the interest of a significiant amount of the members who actively partake in the forum, or a point that stimulates such discussion. General Chat is established as the GENERAL DISCUSSION forum for Knight Online.

What does this mean? This means: ["it" referring to the thread]

    1. No "fact" questions. Discussion is for things that have not been established as fact already, unless the fact is being discussed as erroneous, or incorrect. These questions belong in a "question" forum, not a discussion forum.
    2. The discussion must be contributive. That is, it must not be pointless and mindless - opinionated discussion is encouraged (that is, opinion that does not strictly offend others). It must have a valid purpose (at the discretion of the moderators).
    3. It must be in the interest of a significant number of the members. That is, people have to actually care. If nobody cares, then it's a pointless discussion.
    4. It must be current, and up-to-date. Out of date discussions are pointless.
    5. It should have not been identically addressed before. Unless the point is STILL valid and was discussed a LONG time ago, it should not be brought up again. There must be a valid reason for bringing up a point already discussed before (again, at the discretion of the moderators).

does that mean the "i don't care" , "who care", pointless thread etc are allowed even when it's not really needed?

The definition of "a forum" is subjective. However the universal definition of a forum is to "openly discuss an issue among a panel of your peers". In Ancient Greece, a forum was a place to discuss politics, philosophy, etc. A forum was also a place to boast one's ego and completely ruin another's reputation. Socrates "flamed" a lot of people. However, because he "flamed" a lot, he got banned (or executed).

He chose to take hemlock, he was not banned, or executed, he had the option of Hemlock or exile. He chose hemlock.

On topic, I agree with moe, and lutz, but since this is a KO forum, it should be towards that subject, unlike the very open Greek "forums"

Banned is a synonym for exile.

The excecution of Socrates is once again another subjective discussion. I will let you stick with your opinions. But, he did not have the option of "exile". Basically what they did was they gave him the oppurtunity to get the fuck out. They said, "we are going to execute you tommorow, however we will leave the door to your cell open, so if you want you can get the fuck out." He chose death. Since they gave him an oppurtunity to leave, there has been a heated debate on whether or not the "execution" of Socrates should really be considered an execution.

And no one cares that you are muted for a day. Cya -- learn to handle things more maturely, since this "class" was designed as a gentle reminder for people like yourself to not get in further confrontations in the future.

For those of you who say you don't care, lutz was just spelling out the guidelines of how this forum is supposed to flow.. if you disagree with them that's unfortunate since it's something you agreed to in the ToS ;x if you feel so strongly about things why not state them in an educated fashion and see if that doesn't get your point across a little better.

    It's not subjective here.

seeing as a lot of the members make spam topic/stupid topics, wouldnt that mean that this post is not "It must be in the interest of a significant number of the members. That is, people have to actually care. If nobody cares, then it's a pointless discussion." since theyve be told of the rules and still make spam?
