Death Note is about a guy named Yagami Light, who gets a book, where he can write peoples names down in, a death reason, and what so ever, and then theyll die, as he wishes it! its a freakin nice anime, its worth watching, belive me! the animations are great and everything o.o diffenitly worth watching... and its nothing like Elfen Lied xD

Oh and btw, a other good anime u should watch is Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai is the second season, u GOTTA watch that one aswell if u decide to watch season 1)
