Yes i believe u need 2 of the same... Dnno if brand affects anything but i never seen anyone with 1 e-vga 8800GTX and 1 BFG 8800GTX... its always something like 2x e-vga 8800GTX

nvidia if you are buying the best card(8800gts/gtx or 7800gx2...) other wise ati and i prefer intel core duo2 than any amd anymore...ATI sucks though.

Just about to buy my new beast of a machineh34r:
For SLI you cannot use diffrent cards but you may use diffrent brands. What is the card you have now it might be better buying a new card then doing sli
