Metalcore (also known as hardcore metal) is a fusion genre, mixing elements of metal and hardcore punk.

Defining the metalcore sound is not an easy task. Various bands have fused a hardcore-influenced sound and attitude with many different types of metal.

I'll list like 90% of the metalcore bands out there at the end of this post just to let you guys know what to download if you like what you hear.

From the late 1990s,particularly after the turn of the millennium, metalcore has grown immensely, to the point where major record companies are taking interest in the genre. Recent releases, such as Unearth's III: In the Eyes of Fire and Norma Jean's Redeemer have charted moderately high on the Billboard 200.

"Melodic metalcore" has become immensely popular, with bands playing a combination of melodic death metal, popularized by bands such as At the Gates and In Flames, and early metalcore. This results in style that has a definite element of melody (such as harmonized leads in bands with two guitarists) juxtaposed against the brutal rhythms and vocals. Today, many popular metalcore bands play this style, including Bleeding Through, Caliban, Heaven Shall Burn, Darkest Hour, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, From Autumn to Ashes, Zao, and Unearth.

Some bands, such as Botch and Norma Jean, expanded on the blueprints of Rorschach and Deadguy, bringing forth intense, math rock- and noise rock-influenced guitar riffs.

One of the best aspects of the metalcore genre is the fact that either they have an amazing lead vocalist that does both the screams and the singing, or they have 2-3 lead vocalists, but the fact that there is a break between screams and singing is very nice, it evens out the music, and more importantly separates this genre drastically from Death Metal/Black Metal.

Most metalcore bands have sick guitar players, and in most cases you can expect a face melting solo in almost every song haha.

Now for some good examples of said genre :

Anyways, that was a long post, gathering videos and such, hope you can expand your musical horizon, and enjoy some brutal breakdowns, insane riffs, and facing metal guitar solos.

Soul-less music.
No feel to it.

It's not about how many notes you can hit per second, it's about the feeling that goes into each note.
Listen to some Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Robert Johnson (early blues), music that started all that shit off.

The oldies that started this type of music off is good too...but I like the new bands too (not really new, but you know what I mean) no reason you can't like more than one type of music. I like everything from rock (all kinds), to rap, and even some country. Basically the only music I hate hearing is gospel.
