    use screws
    That way you can remove them easy and also can put it somewhere there isnt a stud (as long as you use anchors) if you so choose.

    Don't nail shelfs onto walls. If its a plasterboard then make sure you have the plaster supporter for the screws or when you put weight onto the shelf, say ßß wall.

    Before you even start hammering you need to make sure theres no wiring so you wont damage anything, but the best is to use screws.
