It looks like the avatars are at the default 80 x 80 pixels. Usually admins like to keep the avatars small so that they dont distort the posts on the forum. An 80 x 80 image has a better chance of not being considered distracting by forum users.

First image is your JPEG file which is 27KB. Second image is a GIF file which is 4KB. Dont think its too hard to notice there are ways to reduce the size of an image to meet the Avatar requirements in this forums and still look the same.

Guess you are using your computers only for games.
Open your JPEG file with paint and save as with GIF file.
