its annoying as fuck if i wanted to read the material related to whatever post id go to that category, i keep the categories i dont want to read minimized cuz i dont want to read them

then people go into the categories i do read to spam it(spam used in the definition of something unwanted, not massive amounts) with their crap that they want more people to see

its ANNOYING the fact that staff do it too is the part im complaining about...regular users just need to be modded by the mods/admins but the staff that do it i mean its like they just get away with it?

what ever happened to lead by example?

I personally find the performance of the forums is getting pretty bad and I find I often have to close the browser and reopen time and time again to try and post somethign or read the next page.

I also want the sexy sexy sexy MacOS skin which makes the forums so much easier for me.

Yes, I&#39;m aware of that but there&#39;s not much I can do til I get a new box or do some major change in our config. Bottom line is, we got BIGGER and we need more RAM. Easy as that. I&#39;ll try changing the Apache config or even moving to lighttpd which is very light but need some testing before i change to a different webserver that I&#39;m not used to.

Personally I dont enjoy reading spams(i`m not reffering to those from market section),some people do that,not really saying anything worth reading they just do it to raise theyr post count.Many of these people are actually future scammers aswell,since a lot of people dont do trades with people who do not have a considerable post count.

U cant bypass that thru spam so it will be pointless to do it. Also will add some stuff to track duplicate accounts and other interesting things to minimize scams. At least make it more difficult.

The invite only suggestion is also valid. We can do a mix of things too.

Rather than invite only, I&#39;d prefer to do Admin Approval... If we were to make it invite only, can you imagine how many IM&#39;s we&#39;d get DAILY asking if they could get an invite? >_<

Also, we should, once we get vB, probably make it so you need to be registered on the forums for x days/months before you can PM anyone. Might help out also.

well.. the 6 months thing... on the less active servers like pathos and manes, not much people know about ko4life, and when they find out, and make an account, then they will have to wait 6 months b4 being able to make posts there? :S. i think iz a lil too long maybe 3-4 months ^^ so i can post xD.


o.. and @ vandy, when i meant most of scamming occurs in game, i typed it wrong, i meant to say in game, and msn. some people post their msn&#39;s on the topic, and tell ppl to add em, and u get a lot of random scammers adding them and pretending to be "xxxxx" from ko4life... and the sellers sometimes forget, or dont, confirm that they are the "xxxxx" from ko4life they claim to be....

Fake trade mods also get some careless people.... like [email protected] or something like that...

and plz remove the vote "xxxxx" for king topics... :/ not that great for the forum.

I was banned for awhile. I asked the mod who banned if he could show me were I was racist ( I know I was ) and he couldnt. I thought it was sad. Maybe records of the posts people make that are banable should be recorded.

Also mods seem to i dunno, abuse their power. Not all, just some. There is only one way to fix that. Monitor your mods better.

I&#39;d also like to see better servers or something. Gets kinda lag on server restarts cause everyone wants to watch videos and flame others hehe.

1: agreed...the warnings should be more professional, links to the post in question that ur getting warned for, the rule number ur beaking, etc...keep it professional

2. scamming thing, devile, festo seem to pretty computer savvy, dreaming here, but script up a similar bidding system that Tioc? tried to set up at one point in time, enable a feedback system, and monitor that like a biatch, accounts must be 2+ months old, need a voucher with an established account 1+ year to be eligible to participate, log that, call it the new market section, user selects item to sell based on kalibs? database, sets up what they want in return (disclaim: usd sales are not supported thru ko4life, use at own risk), buyers will see all statistics including feedback, item picture for sale/trade/wanted, link to database describing items and stats, and what is required to buy/bid. anyone caught abusing the system is permanently banned, suspend vouchers account for 1 month period to investigate. if more than 2 people are caught abusing the system, suspend vouchers account for 6 month. far fetched ?

3. this site no doubt generates alot of traffic, if alot of the immature, just general garbage was removed with a similar quiet ban, i think you would see alot more of the older crowd actually willing to participate in chatting up other gamers. screw having to justify yourselves, you can&#39;t please everyone. anyone spamming for the reason why, should be muted. call it a democracy with socialist aspects as oxymoron as that may sound.

4. unban the turks, and take care of the children who obviously are here for the "fack your mother comments" also take care of the douche bags who might ignitiate the bullshit with "turk comments". they dominate the numbers in this game, and some of them are good people. there&#39;s got to be another way around the DDOS thing. Or just have the option of throwing up the wall whenever such attacks occur.

5. all political chat should be shot down, without exception. everyone&#39;s got their own view point. religion aswell. it&#39;s way to controversial. this is a gaming forum. set up your rules, enforce them without trying to portray some sort of hierarchy.

6. ok here goes....... set up a king system per server, nothing crazy crazy, have the market moderator, establish it, just by checking with NPC who eligible candidates are. Anonymous voting, get creative. Make this section seperate from others. Allow posts for campaign style posts. Let people express themselves maturely, if they can&#39;t do that, spice it up a knotch and make them disappear for awhile.

i&#39;ve got a lot of ideas, but i&#39;ll stop there. let those soak in. i like em

1. if u were warned im sure ud want to know why...or would u be happy with ur warning saying "..." as the reason for ur warn? or hell even if it says the reason u were warned wouldnt u like to know the post that ur being warned for so u can see what they consider warnable? everyones definition of flaming is different so a warning of "flaming" doesnt mean jack shit but if u got a warning of "flameing, see this post: www.blahblahblah" then ud know EXACTLY what u were awrned for

IP bans really only do so much. Like its been said, in most cases Proxies > KO4Life

Scammers are definitely the worst problem on KO4Life... but what can really be done. Usually its the person who gets scammed fault due to stupidity or just being way too trustful. If your worried about getting scammed theres no way you will get scammed, use your head and if you feel fishy about a trade don&#39;t do it. If you feel fishy about sharing your account with .... then don&#39;t do it.

Can you make it possible to start a new system, where ppl who can&#39;t use WU, can use Paypal for items mostly?

Get a set of Moderators, which once money is paid the items r kept at the mod till money r cashed, then the mod once he sees that transfer of money is successful he gives the items to the buyer. Looks simple but no1 trusts any1 that wants to pay with paypal, and i dnt wanna trust any ppl ingame with buying me the stuff...more ppl involved, more risks

Obviously it would mean that the moderators have to be super trustable with this!

This would be a win win situation. SO at every section of every server, there should be a division, a forum for WU/paypal and a forum for WU only ppl.

If you would work diligently this could work, and little by little ppl would start feeling safe using Paypal...and this would be open to every1 not only USA, Sweden etc...THIS WOULD ALSO STOP MOST OF THE PAYPAL SCAMMING!!

From a technical point of view we can:

• Make ko4life invite only (if u invite a scammer, u are banned aswell)
• Make ko4life registrations approved by admins
• Add account age as a requirement to post on market place
• Use a reputation mod so buyers rely on reputation to pick a buyer/seller
• Add some sort of bidding mod to keep track of trades

so on and so forth. Sure, at the end it will all depend on the buyer/seller IQ, but still we can help make the decision easier to minimize the chance of getting scammed.

But before we change anything, I wanna hear all ideas related to this and other problems so we see the big picture and try different things.
