What i do is after a big streak of reds 6+ i wait for a green then 2 more reds or 1 and I upgrade. Made 4 cleavers +8 in a row doing this.

burn a few cleaver+7, coz dey are cheap (2.5mil each), throw in 2 chitin +7, or shell +6. and have about 3 +7 of the thing dat u wanna up.

up them with trina, depending on ur luck. u should get one to +8
