Warcraft Movie

I did a search and couldn't find any topic on this sooo....

Who's excited? It's gonna be live-action instead of cinematic style. No idea about the director or any cast soon, but for the cast I think it'd be better getting some random unknowns instead of famous celebrities. That'd just make it weird.

I'm hoping they don't stuff it up, cos I'm a fantasy buff and if they do it right it could easily be one of my favorite movies.

Anyhow, we'll see how it turns out.

Yep, it was announced at the 2007 Blizzcon.

Things they mentioned:

• It is going to be made by Legendary Pictures (300, Batman Begins, etc)
• Set for a 2009 release
• Budget of over $100 million USD
• Live action, probably with a mix of digital effects
• It's more of a war story rather than an "quest one" like LOTR is - it will focus more on growing tensions between the races of the World of Warcraft universe and eventually culminate with some kind of battle
• Told mainly from an Alliance perspective
• It tells the story from about one year before the World of Warcraft
• It will be about 2 to 2.5 hours long
• It will blend elements from Gladiator, 300 and Braveheart
• As far as MPAA ratings go, Legendary can't really say what the film will draw, as they still don't have a director, but Metzen was quick to point out, "it's warcraft, it's not pillow-fight craft."
