Try Carrie - Stephen King, or any from Koji Suzuki are good to read at night. You can also try the complete Hannibal series, the books are much better than the movies.

Also, if not suspense, has a good story, The Tin Drum, by Günter Grass.

Be prepared for disappointment with the wheel of time series... the author died before the 12th book was written, and they have a ghost writer doing book 12 at the moment based on notes and plot that was told to the authors wife. Don't think it's due out until 2011

    Recommended reading by me:
all books by Tom Holt - comedy based on Earth, but where folk tales and fairy stories are real in unexpected ways. With titles like "Snow White and Seven Samurai" or "You don't have to be evil to work here but it helps" you can't help picking them up
Sword of Truth series - Terry Goodkind
Wheel of Time series - Robert Jordan
The Dark Tower series - Stephen King
The Belgariad & the Mallorean - David Eddings
The Chronicles of Narnia - C S Lewis (explains a lot if you read "The Magician's Nephew")
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series - Douglas Adams
most books by Ben Elton - haven't read his entire catalogue yet, but so far so good (satirical comedy)
most books by Terry Pratchett - Discworld is a treat with only a couple of not so good books

...and some individual titles I've enjoyed
Perfume by Patrick Suskind - book is sooo much better than the film
The House of Doctor Dee by Peter Ackroyd
The Clerkenwell Tales by Peter Ackroyd

    ...and to help your PKing
The Art of War - Sun Tsu (english translation ofc :P)

very good books that keep u on the edge the whole time your readin it. phenominal series of books.
And chuck if you dont know, they have 2 extra books after the mallorean series. Called "Belgarath the Sorcerer" and "Polgara the sorceress"
I also suggest "Enders game." It also has a series but i have yet to read it. It has an intresting view on the way people think.

I would recommend giving a try to Nickeled and dimed, a very good book. About a middleclass women who goes to work jobs in lower class america. Tries to live off the wages of a fulltime salary and pay for food clothing and the basic essiantials. Has a funny twist to it and proves it not possible in many states to live off the income provided by the lower class wages. Worth a good read.

    Dean Koontz - Intensity

Read it again and finished this book in one setting. Pure Thriller / Page Turner

Quite possibly the best book I have ever read
