Chevelle (clean lyrics if it matters to you, good hard rock that you can listen to in about any situation)
Soilwork (Nerve, If Possible, ect they got a few good songs)
    Masterplan
Edguy (really love this bad, they got some talent, old school flare for new metal)
Scar Symmetry (Mind Machine song rocks)
Withen Temptation (simply the best female metal bad out there, amazing vocals and good riffs)
    Mudvaye
Korn (they new album is really good, depends on your tastes)
Endo (in time is a great song)
Trust Company (try and get Hover, they got a few good songs)
Deftones (as already mentioned they are good)
Evans Blue (a bit to mainstream but they are alright)
Nickelback (I love this band, great vocals that are hard to pull off and unique, some songs have good riffs but the vocals are emphasized)
Acroma (not many know about them, simmiler to tool)
Adema (slightly emo, aside from thay they have a few good songs)
After Forever (another good female metal group which emphasizes the riffs)
American Head Charge (very hard rock but wouldent consider them metal, great band try and get Pledge Allegance)
Angra (completely metal, soft voice and some songs have a very good beat, worth checking out if you like metal that doesen't have extremely harsh vocals)
Audioslave (mainsteam rock, they are fair)
Avenged Sevenfold (wait for their new album, it's going to be great. The entire city of evil album is good)
Black Sabbath (old school, nuff said they are great)
Breaking Benjamin (gunna go see them next week, great band for a few weeks but don't overplay their songs)
Childeren Of Bodom (ARE YOU DEAD YET?!)
Devin Townsend (another light metal group not many have heard of, few good songs try and get "earth day" from the album terria)
Disturbed (mainstream hard rock, would be supprized if you havent already heard of them)
DragonForce (great metal band, but songs are very repetetive)
Dream Theater (old school band thats still kickin out the good stuff, try and get their new album and "train of thought")
Dry Cell (hard to find songs from this band, but "Body Crumbles" is a good song)
Earshot (another tool-type band, pretty good I suppose)
Element eighty (newer band, they have a few good songs)
F5 (try to get the song "faded" by this band, it may get you hooked)
Fear Factory (like Powerman 5000 it's an industrial band that has some good songs give it a try)
Flaw (I really got hooked on this band again, check out all their albums they rock)
Godhead (not to be confused with Godsmack, their focals are slightly softer and have good riffs)
Godsmack (great beat to some of their songs, hard to pull off lyrics really unique band)
Ill Nino (spanish metal band but they have english versions to their songs, very good stuff)
Kamelot (similer to Angra and Masterplan, epic metal and it's good uplifting stuff if you want quality metal)
Killswitch Engage (good band but some of their songs arn't that good, try to get "end of a heartache")
Lacuna Coil (their song "to the edge" is simply a pice of art, female singer and the riff will bust your nuts, get it)
Motograter (another band not very well known, pretty rough around the edges but they are alright)
Passenger (a side project band of In Flames, nu-metal with good riffs and softer voice tones, definatly worth checking out)
A Perfect Circle (former Tool members created this band right after they split, pretty liberal but some good stuff... band is non existant now as original Tool got back together)
Powerman 5000 (industrial/electronic metal, they got talent but the music is an aquired taste)
Ra (hard to find band but they are great, the song "Sky" is a work of art, hard to not like it)
Rage Against The Machine (these guys suck now but their old stuff is pretty good)
Seether (unique voice tone, they have a few songs worth checking out)
Staind (same as above, unique voice tone)
Soil (not to be confised with soilwork, this is a hard to find band thats got some great riffs... try out their song called Redefine)
Static - X (very talented industrial band, give em a try)

I could name more but im to lazy..

Woah woah woah woah, Rage still fucking rocks. Audioslave sucked, but that was just because of Chris Cornell.

Ps. Tool didn't break up, APC was one of Maynard's side projects.

Add to the list James Labrie. Just owns, amazing vocalist and personally I like it better than his work in dreamtheater.
