ok so i only got 512 RAM in my pc and i wanna upgrade to 1GB. the thing is im not exactly sure what type to buy.

here is a pic that shows the specs of the one my pc has now, http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...aman/specs.jpg

so there it says i got DDR right, ok that should be enough but im looking online and i was checking this one out, http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/ACP-EP-512M...roductDetail.do

ok here it says its a speed: DDR PC-3200 and type : DDR SDRAM but in the title description it has DDR. does this mean it will not work on my pc?

~ also i went to this website , it did a scan and this is what came up http://crucial.com/systemscanner/vie...5B09431D926C3# dunno if u guys can see the page though.

any help i would much appreciate, i wanna buy one and not have to go through the trouble to return it and search again for another >.<.

if u need any more info of my pc tell me.

thanks

Yes that's compatible.

sodimm is the ram you want to keep away from as thats for laptops, however sd is fine.

And when your installing it make sure you press down hard, its the only piece of hardware that needs force to snap into place.

Just do it on a table, and make sure you get rid of any static electricity and you should be fine.

i went to crucial. saw whether it was ddr/ddr2/sd (i think those are the 3 options). drove to fry's. told them i need 1gb stick of aforementioned type. they gave me stick. went home. opened comp. stuck ram in. turned on comp. voila

DDR is priced high at some places because of the limited stock yet high demand.

A lot of people with nub pcs with DDR motherboards yet DDR is almost obsolete, and hardly any company makes it anymore.

Grounded is when you don't have any static electricity in your body. Cheapest method of ensuring it is by touching a grounded metal object (e.g the computers power supply connected to wall - but switched off, or a radiator)

Here's a simplified procedure.

1 - Buy your RAM which is correct for your motherboard (the ones from crucial are guaranteed to work as they're matched). I'd also recommend reading your manual. My motherboard has 4 RAM slots, 1 pair is for slower DDR and other pair is for faster DDR so if you do need to put them in learn which slots they go in
2 - Switch off your computer, disconnect all cables and remove the casing screws
3 - Place your computer flat on a table, open up the anti-static bag if the memory is in one.
4 - Touch a grounded metal object (i.e radiator)
5 - Remove the RAM module, holding the sides of it (lengthwise) not on the chips or pins
6 - Make sure your locking pins are open in RAM slots. Ensure you have the RAM the correct way around, it is impossible to get this wrong because there is a little notch on the ram module, which lines up with a little notch in the RAM slot. If you don't fit it the right way the RAM won't push down.
Link to a piccy -http://www.rainydaymagazine.com/RDM2008/RainyDayProjects/MacMiniRAM/OpeningMacMini/UpgradingRAM/InsertRamJetBig.jpg
7 - When you have inserted the RAM, I prefer to hold each corner with my index finger and thumb from each hand then push down for equal distribution. When the locking pins click in place, you're done

You can then connect up the cables, if you switch on the PC and get a beeping noise, your RAM is either incompatible or most likely not correctly seated
