PvP Guide

This is getting sad... I was happy about getting a new website, hoping there would be less people flaming and attacking each other, but as usual I was let down

Tempest, what is your problem ? Why dont you make your own guide if you are such an uber-PKer. Taugrim tried hard, and made a well crafted guide. Why not try and help out the community with constructive comments that could be added to a new version of the same guide ? But no, as with all message board flamers, you had to be negative to get your fun

HaTeMeNoW, why even post that about how he should not make a guide ? Where is your guide ?

The people that made this message board did so to remove all the attacks and spammers and lame people that filled up each post. (I think) Why be negative to people ? Im level 63 and I have only 4500 NP's, and I suck at PKing. That is because until recently, all I have been doing is leveling. I search this message board (and others) to find advice from good people that are willing to share their knowledge. Its sad that a few people have to flame about how much better they are than the people who had the balls to write a guide.

Question, did u accually read the guide? I get the feeling u didn't.
U all seem to be hung up on the lvl and the Np's(sig not updated for a good while) Tau has.

My view on guides is that they are all in the eyes of the author, some think this and some think that. FINE! Read it, pick the things u like and leave the rest.

NPs are all relative.

If you don't realize that (and I don't think you do) you are an idiot.

Consider:
1. which server the player is on
2. what level the player is
3. what gear the player has
5. how long the player has been PK'ing
6. whether the player cheats or not
7. how strong the player's PK clan is

Most legit level 61 players struggle to gain NPs on the older servers (Arez, Diez, Xig, Ber). I know this because I have the clans listing on my site, and I keep tabs on a lot of players. And I've looked on rain's KONPTracker.com site.

I'm averaging about 18k NP per month, with about a 6-to-1 or 7-to-1 kill-to-death ratio, and I know that is good for my level, because I pay attention to how people do in Beramus CZ.

Why don't you offer some specific criticism on things in the guide instead of voicing your (completely useless) opinion?

I have more NPs than 7 out of 8 of the level 61s (except Lona) in your clan, and most of those folks have been 60+ for the same amount of time as I have, or longer. So I guess they have "low NP" and should "die tard" too.


While it's true Diez is the older server (which, theoretically, should make it a harder PK server), Dupamus has never had the kind of active management that Diez enjoyed for a long time, thanks to people like Devile, Wagyar, etc (Morax?). So it's tough to say 1 server is much harder than the other from a PK perspective.

Level does not necessarily correlate with skill.

A big point I make in my guide is you can gain NPs in CZ in the low level 60s. I had heard from folks (before I reached 60), that it was difficult or impossible for low level players, because of all the macroers and dupers. But after gaining 25k NP in CZ in January, mostly as level 60 (soloing or with 2 clannies, Krusty and faraway), I can say that is not the case. If you play smart, it is doable.

You still haven't refuted anything specific in the guide, so I guess your only contribution here is flaming me.

- Potting/minor healing ability/practice (Applys to ALL classes)
- Comboing, and why to do it (other then the quoted sin text), or why to not do it if you haven't practiced
- Weapon defense (for servers that have it). Not just DD
- Acid pots/Magic Hammers
- Tips on how to support your fellow party members, and why you should
- The difference of being a support mage and an attack mage
- Mention the most important archer skill, Arrow Shower

Things I think are inaccurate:
- "People have debated whether dual-wield is better than using a 2-h weapon (e.g. raptor or giga axe). The consensus seems to be that 2-h weapon is the way to go, because of the much higher attack." Flat out wrong in so many ways.
- "The 960 mp pots should work fine, and they are much less expensive compared to soul pots." Even though you put the lutz statement in, this contridicts what he says.
- "The warrior 62 skill (Scream) is awesome and worth leveling for" It's nice, but not that great. But maybe that's just my personal bias. :P

The thing about your guide is, I can tell you're an archer by reading it (and that most of your time spent PKing is by yourself). Follow the rush, know who to aim for to get NP, and town before you can possibly die. That's what your guide teaches. No mention of party vs party tactics. Party vs party tactics are by far the most important ones (and take the longest time to learn).

I will remove the dual-wielding statement.

I put that in there a while ago, and to be honest, I wrote that because that's what I heard.

Over the past couple weeks, a clannie warrior has been experimenting with dual-wielding, and she says it is much better compared to 2-h weapon. Even though her attack is lower, her overall damage rate is higher.

I will ask Krusty about this. He just made 62 and has been experimenting with it. He just got a skellie belt last night that dropped from Talos, so his results may be a bit skewed :P

That is very fair.

I'll think about how I can add more party tactics stuff. To be honest, part of the reason I had not written about that was:
1. lack of experience
2. it's a lot of work

What I have done, and will continue doing, is linking to other people's guides (e.g. Phobia's and Grid's for INT priests, etc) that cover a lot of party tactics.

But I will begin to add party tactics over time.

Have 2 Full Shell Healers/Duffers
Have 2 Full Shell Duffers/Healers

Have 4 Warrriors.

Have leeroy do the rest of the job while your healers spam heal away.
