What a stupid discussion. When was the last time that a major war was fought with the sole involvement of the two countries? Wars depend on alliances. Whoever acts as the agressor will lose every time.

If China invaded Japan then the entire western world would support Japan. If Japan invaded China then the same would happen but for China. Both countries have lots of alliances. Since WW2 both Japan and Germany have very pacifist stances on the use of their armies, so war is not likely at all.

Same with the USA and canada, whoever is the agressor will lose since the other country will have the UN and other NATO countries to help. And although many clueless Americans seem to believe they can fight the whole world, they are nowhere near as strong. The American army is already stretched to breaking point to the extent that they are lowering recruitment criteria. Canada with the help of the rest of the world would easily defeat the USA (dont forget that most countries would jump at the chance to fight the USA legally). This won't ever happen, both countries have tied interests and major alliances.

UK vs Germany... whoever invades loses. This will never happen though, war in western europe will never happen again.

Turkey vs Iran... Turkey has major western alliances and Iran is internationally isolated. No contest.[/b]

Are you serious... Usa army is "nowhere near strong" ? USA army is strong, maybe abit beyond strong. I doubt any strong countries would step in to help canada, but a few countries probably will, but USA will defeat them, not an easy task but they will defeat them. Even if it takes most of the U.S army which i doubt it will not,if so then it will come down to conscription. And some countries will jump into USA side as an alliance also.
If USA "is nowhere near strong" then what makes other countries army? USA clearly has the strongest army in the world right now...

Western countries have alliances with Canada and are obliged to assist them if they are attacked.
