I didn't hear them say that, but the audio wasn't stunning. that makes me think even more it is staged since most hicks wouldn't call themselves that.

Matter of fact, I can think of one "fellar" in partciular who refers to himself as a "dumb hick"..

rather prominant in the old south is still quite a bit animosity directed toward the North and "Yankees". It's rather common to hear hicks refer to themselves as "dumb redneck" "Backward Hick" "Inbred" etc. Then again, it's usually sarcasm, but it's like fat ppl referring to themselves as "fat".. many times when somone feels insignificant due to a charactoristic, they will draw attention to it as a means to inflate thier self image. Something like a non-shalant recognition of differences.

Then there's just the dirty country folk who live all over the place in the world that pretend to be southern.

I have alot of respect for the old south, and I hate it all the same. In any event..

Staged or not this video (by the way, you can fast forward through the boring parts) made me proud to be educated with all of my teeth.

I live in the south and am surrounded by them. The ones I encounter are proud to call themselves redneck but not "dumb redneck"

And even though I married a yankee I still hate 'em

. I grew up in Florida which is pretty neutral, joined the Army which made me live in places like Missourri and New York and settled in Georgia cuz I like the old South.
