no it doesnt, theres windowslive messenger and windows messenger ( cant be deleted, well it can but its a pain in the ass. )

u start with some basic things in the start programs list...live doesnt replace it

so u should see


internet explorer
msn
outlook express
remote assistance
windows media player
windows messenger
windows movie maker

[Speed]

1) make sure ur computer date is correct...
2) on internet explorer: tools - internet options - connections - LAN configuration - check the box that says " automatic something " lol , then try again
3) servers down maybe? pretty rare but it could be

Have you got the latest version of Messenger?

Go to Tools > About messenger, and the version should be 8.1.0178. If it's not go HERE and get it.
Try and log in again




If that doesn't work, close messenger completely and then go to start>run, and type
ipconfig /flushdns
<span style="font-family:Verdana">and press OK. A window should flash up for about a second. Try logging in again




If that doesn&#39;t work, MAKE SURE that your firewall isn&#39;t blocking it. Zone alarm will block a program if it changes, so if you have updated then make sure you unblock it. IF you haven&#39;t then maybe the actual program&#39;s corrupt or it&#39;s got a virus




If THAT doesn&#39;t work, maybe the temporary files are causing a problem. Go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\(YOUR NAME HERE)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger

And delete anything you find in this folder, then open messenger again and try :P

AND IF YOU STILL CAN&#39;T DO IT then I&#39;m out of ideas :P
