I think you can switch it back to factory settings if you screw up.

    Ask Shurt.

Theres a few things ive heard.

    1) It breaks it, trying to reset it to original fails , and trying to jailbreak it deletes ur warranty so yes buy a new 1

    2) and ummm you can reset it to original until jailbreaking works

WHich is why im scared to let my friend do it to my 500$ ipod touch........

umm it adds a lot of stuff to the ipod, not sure what ill have to look @ his, and i just read up that it will never brick, so u can just keep resetting it if u mess up, so i dun think theres a big consequence..

On an iPod Touch, there are absolutely no risks. Nothing can go wrong. The absolute worst thing that can happen is that you have to restore your iPod, losing all the information on it. The iPod Touch can't be "bricked".

As for the benefits, jailbreaking allows you have an application called Installer.app on your iPod. Installer.app grants you access to HUNDREDS of repositories full of applications for the iPod Touch.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

My friend "hacks" his iphone all the time. I guess this is different because it is an iphone, but he "hacks" his iphone all the time to get different applications (mostly little flash games. ie : super mario bros, sonic, rubix cube, etc) But the risks on the iphone are a lot worse because it has fucked up a lot of times to a point where he had to go to the apple store and get a new one.

If you unlock it, I'm pretty sure you can.
