The essay wasn't original. I bet 90 % of the people wrote about the same exact thing that you did. Hence, originality does not exist. Therefore, the anti-thesis of your thesis prevails.
If I were to write this essay, I would've approached it from the opposite direction. It is human nature not to be original. Humanbeings tend to repeat history - wars, diplomacy, government, etc. We try not to "repeat history" by learning about history, and end up repeating history anyways. We often "act different" for the sake of "being original" for example getting a tatoo, or listening to emo music, not realizing that there are thousands of other people who are doing the same exact thing as you are. As House said, "by going against conformity, you are conforming". Human beings maybe "unique and original". Human behavior isn't.
Also, if you are going to pick a side of an argument, don't mention that the argument is "subjective". We already know that an argument is "subjective" otherwise there would be no argument. Follow through, make it seem that it is not subjective and yours is the only argument.
