Why do all the popular t.v. series always start their new seasons around September and leave 4-5 months of nothing to watch on t.v. House, Heroes, Lost, etc. If they had it spread out through out the year wouldn't they get more views?

Why do all the popular t.v. series always start their new seasons around September and leave 4-5 months of nothing to watch on t.v. House, Heroes, Lost, etc. If they had it spread out through out the year wouldn't they get more views?
Lost is good and so is heroes.
I WAIT for House , lost and heroes :P ...... now its only 2 weeks

lost is pretty good.. but it also never ends!
