I've been running Windows 8 on my desktop for a few days now. No problems yet and it's just as easy to use as Windows 7.

Yeah if you plan on ever buying Windows 8, this is the right time. I got my downloadable copy for 14.99€ off the actual Microsoft store.

Is it buggy and awaiting updates (which will come over a staggered period like most new Windows OS releases)? I'll give it a couple months, I'm in no rush.

I've heard a lot worse about Windows 8 and was kinda suprised how flawless it runs. Even the Internet Browser seems to be completely reworked and is lightning fast. For me anyways. As for the updates, I did not really get a lot, yet. But the windows version I downloaded off their website had a major update already in it, some people even call it a service pack because it was that big. I've gotten maybe like 150 updates, remember they come in chunks and not 1by1 lol.
If I were you, I'd buy it while it's cheap and use it later on. In 2,5 months the price is supposed to go to normal ( about 250€ here ).

You do need to get used to the new look and feel though.
An example: the startbutton is gone and instead you get moved to the screen with the tiles where your apps are located.

What I really do like though, is this:

You can split your screen, and have an app running on either side, while you can run your typical desktop applications streched on the other side.

Yes gaming is essentially the same. USKO and EUKO run just fine for me, just like any other game I've tried so far.

i had it on my computer and it was running so slow (well way slower) with it.. i went back to windows 7 and now it's all good.. you need to get a good PC to make win8 run smooth and it has some compatibility problems with games, so if youre a hardcore gamer, id recommend staying with win7 if you have it installed already
