Well Battlestar Galactica is original serie, focused on the relationships, drama, people's feeling. Non of the characters is perfect, everyone has own good and bad sides. I think that Sci-fi plays secondary role here.

And I HATE most of the Scifi series like Andromeda, Star Trek, etc ... They are too much boring and not original, full of clishes.
